Dr Balasooriya is Australian trained and completed her Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery in 2016. She commenced her training at Gold Coast University Hospital then moved to Melbourne to complete 2 years of residency and a year as a surgical registrar with St Vincent’s Health and Eastern Health. She has also worked in Rural Australia including Darwin. She has enjoyed the diversity of medicine and joined the Royal of Australian College of General Practitioners in 2020.
Dr Balasooriya is interested in procedures, preventative medicine and mental health. She is constantly expanding her knowledge and is currently completing her Sydney Child Health Program.
Dr Balasooriya is interested in building strong therapeutic relationships with her patients so that she can provide the best possible care.
Aside from work she has a love for animals with two beautiful dogs of her own. She is active and enjoys gym, hiking, dancing and scuba diving. She is currently exploring more interests such as learning the guitar. It is never too late for her to try something new and learn more whether it is in medicine or a new hobby!
