A skin cancer check-up assesses your skin cancer risk and indicates any current problems of concern. This check-up includes taking your medical history, as well as undertaking a detailed examination of your skin.

We recommend having a skin cancer check-up once a year, however, if you are concerned about a mole or skin spot, please contact us immediately.

We have the equipment necessary to assess any areas of concern on your skin. Call us today to book an appointment as soon as possible if you have noticed anything of concern – most skin cancers can be treated successfully if found and diagnosed early.

As part of our Skin Cancer Clinic, we are able to take biopsies of lesions to send for testing. This allows for accurate diagnosis and to decide further recommendations for management.

Please see our Fees page for details regarding pricing.

Cryotherapy & Wart Treatment

Warts are a very common small skin growth caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They are usually a raised, painless bump on the skin, ranging from 1-10mm in diameter. These aren’t usually an issue, however, if your wart is bothering you or is consistent over a long period of time, your doctor may recommend cryotherapy. This includes freezing the wart with liquid nitrogen to freeze if off the area of skin.

At Eastlink Family Medical, we also offer the Gardasil Vaccine for teenage girls in prevention against HPV strains associated with cervical cancer.

Implanon Insertion and Removal

What is Implanon (contraceptive implant)?

Implanon, a small flexible rod, which is inserted under the skin of the upper arm, slowly releases small amounts of a hormone called progestogen. This hormone is released over 3 years and prevents ovulation, thickens the opening of uterus and changing the lining of the uterus making it unsuitable for pregnancy. It is similar to the mini pill!

Who might consider using the Implanon?

A woman who:
  • Wants effective, long lasting and reversible contraception
  • Is willing to accept changes to menstrual cycle
Implanon may be especially suitable for women who:
  • Have difficulty remembering to take birth control pills
  • Do not want to use other contraceptive methods
  • Cannot take oestrogen hormone

Is the process painful?

Insertion and removal involve a small surgical procedure with local anesthetic which will numb the small part of your body for pain-free procedure.

How long it takes to reverse the process?

You can remove Implanon when you want. Once the Implanon is removed, most women ovulate within the first month.
